About GripFitr
GripFitr exists because grip fitting is the cheapest improvement in golf and the one almost nobody gets right. Here is who builds it and how it works under the hood.
Who builds it
GripFitr is built by Griffin Brodie, a competitive golfer who works at Shoreline Golf and builds golf software as the founder of GolfTradr, a peer-to-peer marketplace for golf equipment. The day job means handling grips, regripping clubs, and talking through fit with real golfers all the time. The night job means turning that into software that gives the same advice for free, to anyone, without a sales pitch attached.
Where the fitting logic comes from
GripFitr is not a guess dressed up as a quiz. It runs a deterministic rules engine that follows established club-fitting principles: sizing from hand length with a fingertip cross-check, adjusting for grip pressure and miss tendency, choosing material for climate and feel, and separating the driver, the irons and wedges, and the putter because they do not want the same thing. The same set of answers always produces the same recommendation, and every recommendation comes with the plain-English reasoning behind it, so you can judge it for yourself.
How the grip database is built
The recommendations are only as good as the data behind them, so the grip database is researched directly from manufacturer specifications rather than scraped or estimated. Every model went through a two-pass process: a research pass to gather the size options, taper, weight, material, and price, then an independent verification pass that checked those fields against manufacturer and retailer sources. Where a spec could not be confirmed, it is flagged as unverified rather than presented as fact.
The database covers the leading grip brands and is updated as models change. It intentionally leaves out anything that could not be verified to a real product listing.
What GripFitr is not
It is a fitting tool, not a substitute for hitting balls or for a hands-on session with a certified fitter, and it is not medical advice. If you have arthritis or hand pain, treat the comfort suggestions as a starting point and talk to a professional. GripFitr earns a small commission if you buy through some of its links, at no extra cost to you, and that never changes which grip the engine recommends. The recommendation is computed from your answers before any buy link is attached.
